As we were driving east, we encountered more and more groups of motorcyclists also heading east. What we didn't know was they were all headed to the same town, the town we were staying in for a week. Laconia Bike Week, in its 93rd year, and known as the Sturgis Bike Festival of the East, hosts tens of thousands of motorcyclists. The sign on the door of this barbershop either tells the story of a barber who didn't care for the festival and wished to high-tail it for the week, or one who wanted to join his motorcycle buddies. On a rainy day, we made a quick side trip to the eastern side of the immediate lakes we had settled in for the week. This is the restaurant patio of the old carriage house on the historic grounds of the Lucknow Mansion, high up on the most scenic hill in the central lakes region of New Hampshire.
