Flagler College, Infrared

Infrared of the front of what is now Flagler College. Originally built as the Ponce de León Hotel for the vacationing ultra-rich by Industrialist Henry Flagler in 1888. One can get run over and killed easily getting a photo from the middle of the cross street where I was standing. IMG_0851_1.JPG

Hotel Alcazar

The Hotel Alcazar was also built by Henry Flagler across the street from the Ponce de León Hotel as a lower cost option. This hotel had all the entertainment and attractions that weren't part of the stodgy atmosphere at the Ponce de León Hotel. This building now serves as the city hall for St. Augustine, as well as the historic Lightner Museum. This, and it's courtyard, is a must see on a trip to this city. DW5D0652_1_done.jpg

Casa Monica Hotel

The Casa Monica Hotel was purchased by Henry Flagler when it was going bankrupt, and renamed the Cordova. Situated across the street from both the Ponce de León Hotel and the Alcazar, this beautiful building completed his dominance on St. Augustine before Henry became disillusioned with the hotel business and moved on to other ventures.
