Sunset at Harbour Town

The plan was to pay the Harbour Town Light fee to capture the sunset, but they were planning to close a full hour before this. I found a great spot just west of the Harbour Town Light along the 18th hole of the Harbour Town Golf Course near the water's edge. Not the best of sunsets this particular evening, but nonetheless, a great spot for catching nature and sunsets. DW5D1729_1

Pelicans

Pinckney Island

Really the only successful shot from an all too brief side trip to Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge. The worn dead tree was more interesting than the American Pipit (?) perched atop. Hand held with the 400 5.6 L. DW5D1603_1

Banyard House Ruins

The Banyard House Ruins was once a cotton plantation occupying the southern foot of Hilton Head Island. It is now a 6-acre park with the remains of the main house and dotted with nearby outlying slave quarters and kitchen house. Worth the extra drive if you're already visiting the Harbour Town area. Jennifer

Jennifer, in tow behind horses Cate and Henry, gave us a 45-minute tour of old Savannah. She was quite the knowledgeable historian, answering obscure questions about random buildings with expertise. DW5D1779_1

While on the horse carriage tour, I quickly snapped this banjo playing guy with his friends picking and dancing as they walked down the streets of Savannah, GA. Yes, I know the shot isn't level, but I like it better this way ;-) DW5D1799_1

Factors Walk

Along Factors Walk, original catwalks connect the doors of old converted cotton warehouses and office buildings to current street level on Bay Street. The other side of these buildings face historic River Street, Savannah, GA. Under some of these catwalks are creepy (but neat!) vaulted entranceways into old tunnels that are a local mystery.
