"Kramer 1982 Axe Guitar - Guillotine Silver
Guitar owners know commonly call their guitars, 'axes.' Rick received his Kramer Axe as a personal gift from Gene Simmons. The KISS bassist had commissioned renowned luthier Steve Carr to design an intimidating trademark 'weapon of choice" for him to use during live shows. Production models of the Axe bass soon followed, as well as Axe guitar versions.
Not surprisingly, Kramer instruments became popular among heavy metal players in the 1980's. Early designs featured a unique aluminum neck that increased sustain, an effort favored by metal guitarists. The brand's most famous endorser was Eddie Van Halen.
Axe models are highly prized among collectors."
